Pronouns (Kata Ganti)

Well…. Today, we are going to learn Pronouns. What are pronouns?

• Perhatikan kolom subjek diatas, terjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia secara lisan.

Example :

• Rosma is my best friend. She lives in Jayapura. She has many hobbies, some of them are fishing and watching movies.
• Michael is generous young man. He is my neighbor. He is from Sentani, but he lives in Waena.

When we talk to someone or people, kita tidak perlu mengulangi nama orang berkali-kali dalam beberapa kalimat, seperti contoh dibawah ini :

• Rosma is my best friend. Rosma lives in Jayapura. Rosma has many hobbies, some of them are fishing and watching movies.
• Michael is generous young man. Michael is my neighbour. Michael is from Sentani, but Michael  lives in Waena.

Berdasarkan dua contoh diatas, kita bisa melihat bahwa dalam menulis atau bahkan berbicara, kita tidak perlu mengulang nama atau benda berkali-kali, cukup mengantikannya dengan pronouns.

Dari contoh dan penjelasan diatas dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa Pronous atau kata ganti orang  adalah sebuah kata yang dapat mengantikan kata lainnya (noun/kata benda).

1. Personal Pronoun

2. Possessive Pronouns

His	His	–  His sister is beautiful and kind-hearted –  Do you think the book is his?
Her	Hers	–       Her parents live in Jayapura –       Do you think this pen is hers?
Its	Its	–  It is cute –   The food is its? (hewan)

 3. Reflexive Pronoun

Berikut ini adalah bentuk-bentuk reflexive pronouns

I	Myself	–          I am preparing my breakfast by  myself
You	Yourself	–     You need to find yourself a good partner to finish your project
We	Ourselves	–    We should submit our tasks by ourselves
They	Themselves	–    My grandmother and grandfather raise me themselves
He	Himself	–    A little boy picked himself a shorts with number 5 on it.
She	Herself	– She told herself. It was nothing
It	Itself	–        The air condition can be off by itself in 30 minutes.
